Background
Carol graduated from Exeter University with a first class honours degree and prize for best graduating student. Following completion of her PG Dip. Law and BVC at the Inns of Court School of Law London, Carol commenced a 12 month pupilage with 2 Kings Bench Walk in Plymouth where she was subsequently taken on as a tenant. After ten successful years of practicing in Clinical Negligence Law in Plymouth, Carol joined St John’s Chambers Clinical Negligence Practice Group in 2010.
Areas of Practice
Clinical Negligence
Carol undertakes cases involving clinical negligence (medical and dental). She is currently being led in a high value clinical negligence action representing a young mother who sustained serious cerebral arterial thrombosis following negligent surgery.
Recent cases
- Advised a claimant who contracted MRSA following negligent surgery
- Currently representing a claimant who sustained facial / mouth injuries following alleged negligent dental treatment
Personal Injury
Carol’s practice encompasses all areas of Personal Injury law, accepting instructions in all tracks and in high value claims. Her practice is both paperwork and advocacy based.
Carol has developed a particular interest in asbestos-related claims (contested and uncontested). She is experienced in common law negligence and breach of statutory duty at work claims, Fatal Accidents Act 1976 and Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1934 cases, Highways Act claims and Occupiers Liability Acts and Defective Premises Act claims.

- Representing the family of the deceased in a mesothelioma case – high value claim
- Representing a claimant who sustained injuries at an employee’s fun event – several Defendants involved
- Representing a child who sustained severe burns following a firework accident
- Representing an employee who sustained injuries whilst using an unauthorised tool at work
- Representing a factory worker who sustained severe burns following an accident at work by falling into a drain of boiling water
- Representing a claimant visitor who fell at a concert – issue of which Occupiers Liability Act applied
