Background
Charles joined the Employment Practice Group in October 2009 after successful completion of his pupillage with St John’s Chambers. Prior to his pupillage Charles worked as an Advocate with Legal Practice Clerks for a year, and thus has extended experience of advocacy in the county courts, often on the receipt of last-minute instructions. He also worked for the UWESU Advice Clinic, assisting students with legal matters.
Charles is an actively involved officer in the Territorial Army, and thus has a good knowledge of the Armed Forces. He has experience of working on both sides of claims made against the MoD.
Areas of Practice
Employment
Charles has an expanding employment law practice and acts for both claimants and respondents. He has experience of both advisory and Tribunal work, and of the Reserve Forces Appeals Tribunal.
Charles is able to advise and represent clients at all stages of litigation including internal proceedings on such issues as:
- Constructive and unfair dismissal
- Wrongful dismissal
- Redundancy
- Sex, race and disability discrimination
- Working time
- Unlawful deduction of wages
- Whistle-blowing
Wherever possible Charles is happy to act within tight deadlines, and endeavours to return all paperwork within 10 days.
Personal Injury
Charles is a member of the Personal Injury Practice group. He practises in both an advisory and representative capacity in all areas of personal injury law, including employers’ liability cases.
