Background
Carol graduated from Exeter University with a first class honours degree and prize for best graduating student. Following completion of her PG Dip. Law and BVC at the Inns of Court School of Law London, Carol commenced a 12 month pupilage with 2 Kings Bench Walk in Plymouth where she was subsequently taken on as a tenant. After ten successful years of practicing in Family Law in Plymouth, Carol joined St John’s Chambers Family Practice Group in 2010.

Carol’s practice encompasses all areas of Family Law.
Ancillary Relief
Carol frequently appears in ancillary relief claims, at all levels, values and complexity. She also undertakes interim maintenance and section 37 Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 applications. Carol has experience of cases involving litigation and financial misconduct and was recently instructed in a number of cases involving concurrent confiscation proceedings.
Cohabitation
Carol regularly advises and represents clients involved in cohabitation disputes under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996. She recently acted successfully on behalf of a client in a complex case involving mental health issues and evidence tampering.
Financial Provision in Family Matters
Carol has experience of claims involving the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975. She frequently deals with financial applications for children under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. She successfully appealed a decision of the Family Proceedings Court for enforcement of a maintenance order: King, R (on the application of) v Bunyon [2007] EWHC 3281 (Admin), (2008) 1 FLR 1564 (see Family Court Practice 2009 pages 1242, 2200).
Public and Private Children’s Law
Carol represents parents and Guardians in care proceedings. She also is frequently instructed in contact and residence cases, including rule 9.5 Guardians and NYAS caseworkers. Carol regularly undertakes finding of fact hearings, injunctions and related applications under the Family Law Act 1996. She is instructed in removal from the jurisdiction applications. She has experience of representing clients with learning difficulties.

- Represented a wife in a complex ancillary relief case involving multiple restaurant businesses and commercial properties
- Represented a wife in an ancillary relief case concerning international properties and criminal conduct of the husband – concurrent confiscation proceedings
- Represented a husband in a high value ancillary relief case involving breach of a consent order
- Represented a mother in a case involving applications for residence, contact, injunctions (serious violence), child maintenance and under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 – confiscation proceedings pending
- Representing a father in a complex case concerning sexual abuse of stepchildren and contact with natural child
- Represented a father in an application to vary a child maintenance order and as respondent to an application to enforce the order
