Areas of Practice

Stephanie joined the personal injury practice group in June 2009 after transferring to the Bar at the end of 2008.

Having qualified as a solicitor in 1995, Stephanie joined Burroughs Day solicitors in 1999 to specialise in personal injury law. During her time with the firm she acted predominantly for claimants involved in all types of accidents. Subsequently she was appointed head of the public and employers’ liability teams and so in addition to her own multi-track caseload she actively supervised the fast track cases handled by members of her teams. Stephanie has therefore acted for clients in all areas of personal injury law in respect of all levels of claim with cases proceeding in various tribunals including the Court of Appeal. She became a partner in 2002.

Her expertise as a personal injury practitioner was recognised by her appointment to the Tribunals Service – Criminal Injuries Compensation in 2007 which sees her involvement in both the pre-tariff and tariff schemes.

As a solicitor Stephanie was a Senior Litigator with the Association of Personal Injury Solicitors and a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers’ Association.

Personal Injury

Stephanie has extensive experience and expertise in all areas of personal injury law and acts for both claimants (from whom she regularly accepts instructions on a conditional fee agreement basis) and defendants. Stephanie has been a keen motorcyclist for over 15 years and consequently has invaluable knowledge of motorcycles and the likely causes of accident which is essential for those bringing or defending such actions.

Costs

Stephanie also has an interest in costs and direct experience in this area as a solicitor, understanding the issues facing solicitors and the increasing pressures they are under to streamline procedures. She is happy to accept instructions in respect of summary and detailed assessments.
