Personal Injury
Andrew is a leading junior in the field of Personal Injury whose practice takes him to all parts of the country but particularly the South West and South Wales.

Andrew is instructed by a large range of insurance companies in relation to claims arising out of accidents at work, industrial disease, bullying, harassment and stress at work, road traffic accidents and occupiers’ liability as well as contracts of insurance, including fire and other property damage.

He undertakes work on behalf of many national companies such as Corus UK, Glaxosmithkline, J Sainsbury PLC, to name but a few as well as NHS Trusts and Local Authorities in South Wales.

He has extensive experience of dealing with claims at all levels, including catastrophic accidents such as the explosion at the Port Talbot Steelworks, group litigation in relation to industrial disease (recently noise-induced deafness), cases involving severe brain damage, amputations, severe psychiatric injury, chronic pain syndrome.

He has a detailed knowledge of the legal and medical issues arising in claims for damages arising from exposure to asbestos, noise-induced deafness, hand/arm vibration syndrome, exposure to hazardous substances, including bacteria, repetitive strain injury and stress at work.

He also defends various highway authorities against public liability claims especially those thought to invlove fraud.

Andrew is regarded widely as an able cross-examiner who also possesses sound judgment, which have been features of previous recommendations in the publications referred to above.

Andrew is instructed regularly to deal with Inquests and Health & Safety matters from which he is able to provide early advice on liability and evidence to enable claims to be dealt with as efficiently as possible.

He is instructed on behalf of Claimants in multi-track claims arising from road traffic accidents and accidents at work where the damages sought often exceed seven figure sums.

He has appeared against Silks on a number of occasions in various trials and interlocutory applications with considerable success.

He is junior counsel for Hoare in A v Hoare which is due to go to the House of Lords later this year, having delat with the matter alone up to High Court level.

He has been involved in various reported cases such as Cooper v Carillion, A v Hoare, Lock v Cardiff Railways Board.

He undertakes a large volume of trial work and other advocacy at High Court and County Court level as well as a substantial amount of advisory and drafting work. He has dealt with a number of appeals to the Court of Appeal.
