Working directly with businesses and public sector organisations

St John’s Chambers is a leading commercial set, providing comprehensive legal advice to businesses across all areas of law. We act for public and privately-owned companies of all sizes, across many different industries and from all parts of the South West, South Wales and beyond. Our clients range from large corporates such as Airbus, Dyson and Lloyds Bank, to SMEs, partnerships and individual entrepreneurs. We cover all sectors, from agriculture to construction, retail, manufacturing, transport, financial services and insurance, so whatever the nature of your business, we have the expertise to protect your interests.

Our barristers understand that in any business dispute, the priority is to achieve the best possible solution swiftly and cost effectively. Whatever the problem, we make sure we thoroughly understand your priorities and quickly establish a firm hold on the details of the case, so we can advise the best course of action to protect your business interests. It is the strength and depth of our legal expertise, combined with our sector knowledge, commercial understanding and financial acumen that make us the “go to” chambers for businesses in the South West.

We often represent clients in high-value disputes in the High Court, especially in the Business and Property Courts, as well as pursuing and defending claims in the County Court. Our barristers also regularly represent clients in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, as well as in international jurisdictions; we have links in Bermuda, Hong Kong and Jersey. We also act for parties in specialist tribunals, arbitrations, adjudications and mediations.

Mediation

For cases where mediation is appropriate, we have a large team of qualified mediators available to assist in the capacity of adviser, advocate or mediator. Our modern, purpose-built office premises include rooms that are suitable for mediations. Read more.

Public Access

Members of the team are available to act, where appropriate, for commercial and non-commercial organisations, under the Public Access scheme. Read more here.
