Inquests and inquiries

Tom has extensive Coroners Court experience, focusing on inquests engaging “right to life” principles under Article 2 of European Convention on Human Rights. Tom sits as an Assistant Coroner for Warwickshire in jury cases, and is regularly instructed to act as Counsel to the Inquest in complex cases, in particular those which involve potential allegations of gross negligence manslaughter.

Tom’s inquest work comprises deaths in hospitals, the work place, in prison, in police custody. He acts on behalf of both the bereaved and other interested parties. His appointment as Junior Counsel to the Crown (Attorney General’s Civil List) has led to extensive work for the Prison Service, the MOD, the National Probation Service.
