Charles is a member of the Agricultural Law Association and is frequently instructed in the context of agricultural disputes.

He has experience of advising and representing farmers, rural landowners and agricultural enterprises in matters including: agricultural tenancies, rights of way, boundary disputes, as well as the interpretation and enforcement of covenants affecting rural land.

In addition to the traditional real property elements of rural dispute resolution, Charles has also been instructed in cases involving environmental legislation, agricultural commerce, trespass and nuisance claims.

Recent cases include:

  • Representing Claimant farm owners in respect of property damage and trespass in the form of unauthorised harvesting.
  • Advising on the presence of various implied easements in an agricultural-residential setting.
  • Representing commercial agricultural clients in various contractual disputes including those operating in biosecurity, on-farm operations and the manufacture of animal feed.
