Work experience

Unfortunately, we will not be taking on any work experience applicants until further notice due to Covid-19

St John’s offers work experience opportunities for Year 10 students only. You can expect varied duties in different departments and might include working within the administration team assisting with distribution of correspondence and maintaining filing systems, helping in reception, general marketing administration and any other duties as required by the Office Manager.

During your work experience, we will endeavor to arrange an informal meeting with one of our barristers in chambers who can discuss the role of a barrister and the career path to the Bar and if possible for you to attend court in the public gallery to gain first hand insight into the legal system at work. Having work experience on your CV will be advantageous when you apply for higher education courses or jobs.

Applications for students wishing to undertake work experience in Year 10 should be submitted by sending a covering letter, your CV and completed Equality & Diversity Monitoring Form, either by post or email, to Mrs Isabelle Mills, Office Manager, St John’s Chambers, 101 Victoria Street, Bristol, BS1 6PU or [email protected].

Upon receipt, we will review your application, and candidates may be invited to attend an informal interview to discuss in further details the work involved during work experience at St John’s Chambers.
