Barrister: Asha Groves
Summary: Judgment of Cobb J in which he imposes a custodial sentence and makes it clear that ‘Those who assist, materially assist, those who abduct children in this way, must also expect lengthy sentences from this court if they are found to be in contempt.’ This case represents the next judgment in the ongoing series of Egeneonu litigation. The application before the court was the mother’s application to commit Victor Egeneonu to prison for contempt in respect of his collaboration with his brother, and father of the children Levi Egeneonu, attempting to prevent the return of the children to this jurisdiction.
