St John’s Chambers is proud to announce the rollout of its own breastfeeding support initiative in the Southwest, aimed at supporting returning mothers to the Bar and also to Chambers’ professional clients in Bristol.
This initiative is designed to offer practical, discrete, and flexible support to breastfeeding barristers and solicitors who are either working in Chambers or at Bristol County Court. The initiative reflects our commitment to the wider legal community.
Breastfeeding remains a significant barrier to returning to work, particularly for those at the self-employed Bar. St John’s Chambers are proud to be able to meaningfully contribute to promoting a more inclusive and supportive working environment.
This move builds on our long-standing commitment to family-friendly practices. Chambers already offers rent-free parental leave, and has policies in place to support flexible working, menopause, and tailored clerking. These are all aimed at supporting our members to thrive professionally while balancing their responsibilities outside of work.
St John’s Chambers is proud to lead by example in the Southwest and will continue to take proactive steps to improve access, retention, and progression for all within the legal profession.
Please contact Isabelle Mills, Manager – Business Support for further information.
