We’re pleased to announce the success of our recent Divorce and Financial Remedy Conference, held in June, which raised £650 for Advocate, the Bar’s national pro bono charity.

The conference was attended by over 100 solicitors from across the region and was generously sponsored by Milsted Langdon. Delegates received practical updates on the latest developments in procedure, case law and legislation from members of our specialist family law team. The event also featured a keynote address from His Honour Judge Charles Hyde KC, providing valuable judicial insight into current issues affecting family practitioners.

Advocate plays a crucial role in supporting barristers to undertake pro bono work, enabling them to balance their professional practices with providing essential legal assistance to those most in need.

The importance of this work was recently highlighted by the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, The Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, who said:

“The judiciary recognises the critical contribution that the Bar makes to access to justice through its pro bono work. It is a huge credit to practitioners that they are willing to give up their time for free to help the most vulnerable members of society.”

We’re also proud that members of our team have been recognised for their ongoing commitment to pro bono service in the second edition of The Pro Bono Recognition List.
