Francesca is a barrister with a broad commercial and chancery practice.

Francesca accepts instructions across the spectrum of commercial and chancery work, including wills and trusts, commercial and insolvency, landlord and tenant and real property.

Her court work includes interim applications for relief from sanctions, setting aside of judgment and strike out/summary judgment, allocation and other procedural matters, final hearings and trials. She has provided advice including in real property, wills, landlord and tenant and insolvency matters.

Francesca’s notable recent work includes:

  • Advising a potential beneficiary under intestacy on the prospects of establishing, using early twentieth-century public records, that they were a cousin of the whole blood of the deceased.
  • Securing a stay in execution of a warrant of possession on the application of a non-party.
  • Pro-bono advice via Advocate on the prospects of an appeal to the High Court in a landlord and tenant dispute.
  • Settling a claim relating to a disputed loan/gift in excess of £30,000.
  • Trial counsel in a Consumer Rights Act claim involving allegations of fraud, in which Francesca cross-examined three witnesses on the veracity of their evidence.

Prior to pupillage Francesca most recently worked as a paralegal in Bristol, litigating a residential landlord and tenant caseload. She also volunteered at the Bristol Law Centre where she represented individuals appealing their Personal Independence Payment decisions to the Social Security Tribunal. Previously, Francesca worked for a local firm conducting genealogical research to establish beneficial entitlement under intestacy.

Francesca is detail-oriented and thorough. She understands the importance of quickly building client rapport and provides clear, pragmatic advice from the outset of her involvement in a case.

Francesca studied English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford before completing an MPhil in Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge.

She enjoys running, reading and walking her dachshund (Basil) in the Wiltshire countryside.
