Jenny has developed a successful practice specialising in financial remedy proceedings, private children matters, including international family law issues, and Part IV Family Law Act matters.
Jenny takes a client-centred approach in all matters and clients consistently describe her as thorough in her preparation, excellent on her feet and commend her ability to put them at ease during difficult court proceedings.
Jenny regularly represents clients at all stages of financial remedies proceedings including where issues such as conduct, non-disclosure of assets, third party interests and enforcement have arisen.
She is instructed in private children matters, many of which involve allegations of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, coercive and controlling behaviour, intractable hostility, mental health issues and substance abuse. Therefore, Jenny has extensive experience of supporting clients at all stages of private children matters, including fact finding hearings and beyond. She has also represented applicants and respondents in relocation cases, both within the UK and involving Hague Convention and non-Hague Convention countries and so has significant experience in arguing both for and against relocations.
Jenny has successfully represented both applicants and respondents in Family Law Act proceedings.
Jenny is a member of the Bar Council’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel.
Background
Prior to coming to the Bar, Jenny studied Law and French at the University of Bristol, which included a year studying French law at the University of Bordeaux. Jenny subsequently worked as Cabin Crew for Virgin Atlantic Airways, which provided invaluable life experience. She then completed the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) and achieved a grade of ‘Outstanding’ in Family Law, before working as a paralegal in the Children Law department of a firm on the Western Circuit. Whilst training, Jenny volunteered with the National Centre for Domestic Violence and taught debating to prisoners in HMP Pentonville as part of the Vocalise scheme. Jenny joined St John’s Chambers from 36 Family in London, where she remains a Door Tenant.
Notable Cases
- F v M and another [2026] EWFC 180 (B)- Jenny successfully represented the first respondent in complex private children proceedings, ensuring a ‘No Contact’ order was made preventing the applicant from spending any time with the child, in addition to a Section 91(14) order, a Prohibited Steps Order and a Non-Molestation Order being made against the applicant.
- A Father v A Mother [2024] EWFC 381 (B)- Jenny represented the applicant in private children proceedings regarding a relocation to Australia.
- Jenny successfully represented a respondent opposing an international relocation, in circumstances where Cafcass supported relocation.
- Jenny represented a respondent at a private Financial Dispute Resolution, achieving an indication in line with the respondent’s position and ensuring the applicant’s non-matrimonial inheritance was utilised to meet both parties’ needs.
- Jenny secured a very favourable settlement for an applicant at a Financial Dispute Resolution hearing, having successfully pleaded issues of personal conduct.
- Jenny successfully represented a respondent at a complex, five day fact finding hearing, obtaining multiple findings of sexual intercourse without consent by the applicant against the respondent, in addition to findings of coercive and controlling behaviour and emotional abuse by the applicant.
