Samuel is a pupil within our highly ranked Chancery & Commercial Practice Group, under the supervision of Annie Sampson.

Samuel first came to Bristol in 2016 to study for his undergraduate degree in English Literature. He remained in the city to complete both the Graduate Diploma in Law (Distinction, top of his cohort) and the Bar Course (Outstanding).

Before commencing pupillage, Samuel worked as a Paralegal for a property developer in Sheffield where he gained an interest in real estate law, residential property and boundary disputes. He then worked for two and a half years as a County Court Advocate, appearing in court on a daily basis and conducting a wide variety of hearings such as possession claims, interim applications, and small claims trials. During this time he undertook several mini-pupillages at leading commercial chambers and used his confidence and skill as a courtroom advocate in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot as part of the Inner Temple team in the 2023 competition.

In his first six Samuel gained much experience in Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 matters as well as many complex trust disputes. He also took particular interest in Companies Act 2006 claims and was fortunate to assist with a six-day Section 994 petition hearing.

Hobbies and interests

Samuel enjoys reading as a result of his English Literature undergraduate degree, mostly classics. He enjoys sport generally but particularly rugby and is looking forward to getting back down to Ashton Gate to watch the Bears play this season. He also plays the guitar.
