Many congratulations to Matthew White KC who was sworn in as King’s Counsel at Westminster Hall on Monday 23rd March 2026.

Matthew’s appointment provides a boost to our Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence team, further strengthening St John’s position as a leading set in the South West, with 8 silks and over 80 juniors.

Matthew White KC was called to the bar in 1997 and is Head of Chambers at St John’s. He specialises in personal injury litigation and is ranked in Band 1 in Chambers UK and Tier 1 in The Legal 500 guide. He is described by clients as the “master of fine detail” and “forensically thorough”.

It has been reported that out of 325 applicants, 96 received the coveted title of KC. The selection process involves demonstrating excellence in understanding / using the law, advocacy, working with others, diversity action / understanding, and integrity before being recommended by the Lord Chancellor, emphasising what a fantastic achievement this is.
