We’re pleased to announce that our current pupils have come to the end of their first six and are accepting instructions in their own cases. They are:
Hannah Sinclair & Samuel Page (Chancery and Commercial)
My first six months have been a steep but rewarding learning curve, with the chance to shadow supervisors and work closely with senior members of the team on interesting cases. What has made it all the more enjoyable is how kind and approachable everyone has been; I have consistently felt that my ideas and questions have not only been listened to but also encouraged.”
Hannah Sinclair
I have greatly valued my time so far in chambers having seen a huge variety of work and having had the chance to learn from the excellent barristers within the chancery and commercial team at St John’s. I am now eager to begin handling my own cases and apply what I have learned for the benefit of my clients.”
Samuel Page
Chloe Willson & Annabel Lacey (Family & Divorce)
Undertaking my First Six with the support of my supervisors and the wider team at St John’s has allowed for a full and thorough exploration of proceedings across the breadth of family law. Through its guidance within these last six months, St John’s has shown the pure calibre of its counsel and with the continuing guidance of the team and trust of those instructing me I hope to prove no exception. Moving now into my Second Six, I am reminded continuously of the immense privilege of acting within family law proceedings and look forward to taking the first steps in building a meaningful career at the Family Bar.”
Chloe Wilson
It’s been a fantastic opportunity to work with incredibly talented members of the St John’s team and to see the varying approaches that different barristers bring to their practice. It’s given me lots of food for thought on how I will manage my own going forwards. Having the benefit of formative feedback has been invaluable in preparing for my own future work. I’ve also had the chance to observe and assist on a wide range of eye-opening and challenging cases across many different centres and before many different judges. Getting to know different courts, judges, and their individual styles has been really useful insight and preparation for my second six. I’m very much looking forward to building on these experiences in my second six, taking on my own cases, and continuing to develop my advocacy skills.”
Annabel Lacey
Dorcas Baah (Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence)
I have really enjoyed my first six at St John’s. It has been a great introduction to both Bristol and the breadth of work undertaken in chambers, and I have been fortunate to see a wide range of cases – along with more of the Southwest than I ever imagined! Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and generous with their guidance, and I have felt supported throughout. I am looking forward to taking on my own cases and putting into practice the advice I have received from members across chambers.”
Dorcas Baah
We wish them all the best of luck at the start of their careers at the Bar.
