In her Public Law practice, Chelsea is experienced in acting for all parties involved in care proceedings including parents, children (through their Guardian), and Local Authorities. Chelsea is regularly instructed by a number of Local Authorities across the South West. She has acted at all stages of the proceedings, from CMH to multi-day Final Hearings. Chelsea regularly acts in urgent applications, including EPO and ICOs seeking or opposing interim separation. Chelsea has also acted as Junior Counsel on a complex multi-day Fact Finding Hearing, and continued to act as sole counsel at the Final Hearing.
Chelsea’s recent cases have involved:
- Allegations of violence and abuse;
- Substance misuse issues;
- An international element, such as parties with foreign nationality and the involvement of consular authorities;
- Cognitive and capacity issues, including representing parties via the Official Solicitor;
- Parents with learning disabilities or difficulties; and
- Deprivation of Liberty and Secure Accommodation Orders.
Chelsea has been described by her instructing solicitors as available, consistent, calm, and providing advice which is clear and concise. Her approach with clients, opposition and Judges has been described as strong and commendable. She is noted to not only think about the ‘here and now’ but also protection of her client’s interests in the future.
