Jack has experience of a wide range of wills and trusts work, including both contentious and non-contentious matters. Jack has experience of advising and/or providing representation in respect of the validity and construction of trusts; perpetuity periods; the purposes of an apparent charitable trust; the construction of wills and challenges to their validity; 1975 Act claims; applications for the removal of executors and trustees; TOLATA matters; various issues relating to alleged delay in the administration of trusts and estates; and costs, including personal representatives’ costs protection.
Jack also has an interest in domicile and conflict of laws as they relate to trusts and estates. He is due to give a talk an upcoming talk on this during the latter part of 2024.
Jack’s recent cases includes:
- Advising a beneficiary on a construction dispute relating to a gift of a portion of unregistered land, which was known by various names.
- The mediation of a 1975 Act claim by a cohabitant, where the beneficiaries sought to rely on covert surveillance of the client from private investigators.
- Advising and drafting in a spousal 1975 Act claim.
- Advising on the construction of conditions in a will and vesting.
- Advising executor on CPR 64 directions in the context of a stalemate between beneficiaries as to the estate accounts.
- Acting in a pre-action disclosure application for a will in the High Court.
- Advising an executor on questions arising in the administration of estates, including the need for and suitability of possession proceedings.

Additional information:
Jack grew up in the South West and enjoys cooking, hiking, and travelling. During his year abroad in the Tirolean Alps, he also took the opportunity to improve his skiing and (more successfully) his German language skills.
